Detalles de la observación
This bird was driving me crazy for the better part of an hour. At first I thought it was a RBME, but it really doesn’t fit, particularly the bill. The influence of HOME seems pretty obvious in the structure. Strong COME influence in the plumage gave this bird a very distinct appearance compared to the many female-type HOMEs present. Size seemed intermediate between COME and HOME. Bill shape seems better as an intermediate between COME and HOME than RBME and HOME. Overall, this bird doesn’t really fit with any pure merganser species, and is nicely intermediate between COME and HOME. More info about this sighting
