Detalles de la observación
3rd cycle CAGU! Fairly large, long-winged gull; slightly larger than nearby RBGU & slightly smaller than nearby HERG. Long, greenish/yellow & parallel-edged bill with a dark subterminal band and barely noticeable red gony spot. Dark eye. Round head with light brown streaking on the crown, hindneck, sides of neck & face. Facial streaking coalesces behind the eye, giving the bird a "fierce" expression. Light brown smudging on chest sides. Mantle slightly, but noticeably, darker than nearby RBGU or HERG with a wide, white tertial crescent & less prominent scapular crescent. Minimal dark spotting on the tertials. Long, dark wingtips with small white primary tip spots. White chest & belly with no noticeable streaking. White tail with a partial, dark tail band (leftover from 2nd cycle). Greenish-yellow legs with a bluish cast to the knee joint. On the spread wing, the darker grey mantle & wings could readily be seen, with dark markings on the alula & primary coverts; in addition to the dark outer primaries. Small white mirrors were visible on p9 & p10. A partial dark tail band was visible. The underwings appeared "smoky," with the dark outer primaries, p9 & p10 windows & dark partial tail band visible. Aged as 3rd cycle by overall "almost adult" appearance, with the exception of dark markings on tertials, primary coverts, alula & dark tail band.
