Small white heron- half the size of nearby Great Egret. All-dark bill, shorter neck, slight crest shape visible at back of head. Orange-yellow feet visible in flight. Seen from first path left from parking lot down to open water with concrete barriers. It moved farther away up the bank, going behind the peninsula and back out while feeding, again near the Great Egret. Poor digi-binned photo. Then it took wing and circled the marsh a couple times with neck extended, finally lifting up and tucking its neck in to fly off, possibly to roost. STATE BIRD
