1 ad female, 5 chicks, photos to come from Joel S. Unexpected here despite known lek not too far NE, but well seen to eliminate RN Pheasant etc. Lack of long tail when seen in flight, white flanks on tail, head profile with a bit of crest when alert, chevron patterns on flank & belly noted. Observers well-versed with this species. Seen in roadside ditch on E. Side of cr. 83 ~.75 mi n. of hwy 14 just past Sheller farm hedgerow.
