This recording was taken over the course of 15 minutes or so. My primary objective was to record the American Oystercatchers, so I cut out a lot of the parts where the Piping Plovers were absent. The pair mostly made long piping calls, but when they were close to they young they also made low calls that were much softer. When a broken wing display was happening vocalizations often accompanied.
Detalles de la observación
Two parents with two chicks, and two eggs still in the nest nearby. Since the last time I visited which was only a few days ago, the two chicks had hatched. They were likely only a few days old. The parents were noticeably more aggressive with their vocalizations compared to when the eggs had not hatched, and repetitively did a broken wing display in front of me when I drew close.
