This American Robin appears to be using mimicry in its song (which is not unheard of, but I haven't heard it personally and have not recorded anything like this until now). I have more audio of this same bird (which I may upload later); all of its songs are like this. Mimicry or not, this doesn't sound like a typical song for the species. In the first two song phrases, the two opening notes sound like a Baltimore Oriole; the final ones like a Northern Cardinal. If the oriole comparison is stretching things, it is hard to imagine that the phrases at 1:03 and 1:42 aren't Northern Cardinal mimicry. They sound remarkably accurate. (There is no question about the bird's identity; I had it in view while recording it). Normalized to -3 dB except for voice announcement at -10 dB. 24-bit/48 kHz WAV file edited with Ocenaudio. Unfiltered.
Detalles de la observación
One of them delivering a song with elements suggesting mimicry of Northern Cardinal and, to a lesser extent, Baltimore Oriole. Audio to follow.
