***very rare and early; new early date for MA (previous being 3/8 according to V&P) and also the NE USA. Incredible encounter with an adult (!!) CLSW at Low Beach, basically the first bird I encountered while walking onto the actual beach, having flushed it from some unknown lee in the dunes. Managed to get several pictures before the bird eventually took off North, at apprx 10:10. Spent the next hour walking north along the beach photographing gulls, before turning back without having seen the bird again. Interestingly, Harvey Young had a CLSW around noon at basically the same spot where I originally encountered my bird, so the question is whether this was of the same individual or of a different one. Definitely one of the whackiest birds I've encountered to date, up there with a slew of other totally weird moments from the one and only Low Beach.
