Detalles de la observación
Was driving through the park briefly.Looked out over the lake noting 3 or 4 large looking waterfowl on West side that stuck me to be possible Common Mergansers. (They were distant was distant- appeared mostly white sided-larger than Bufflehead) They were diving. Knowing this was rare for Cove- parked and pulled out my scope. Common identified. After a few minutes counted 4 beautiful males/ 2 females with them. Large "elongated"sleek bodied duck- Green head/clear sharp demarcation from neck to white sides/ elongated red bill/ Females- same size /shape- reddish crested head-white chin/sharp white border -white chest/ grayish backs. I have seen these apx 4 times at Cove Lake in the pastt 20 years, usually in inclement weather late Jan-Feb. **NOTATION THE ATT/ PHOTOS WERE TAKEN THE NEXT DAY. 1-28-2021 For some reason I could NOT get them to attach to a "new" entry on that date.. High winds..very distant but identifiable
