Detalles de la observación
A rather large sparrow (about the same size as the White-crowned) with a long tail. Upper parts are dark rufous overall with a streaky back, dark crown with grayish median stripe, pale supercilium with yellow lores and a black post-ocular stripe. The bill is gray and the throat is white and strongly outlined with black. The chest is grayish and streaky. The posture of this sparrow is hunched, not upright as that of a White-crowned. This sparrow was foraging in the grass with a large flock of juncos near the NW corner of the park. When disturbed, they would all fly up into the trees and then would gradually drop back onto the ground.
