Detalles de la observación
Two adult White-tailed Kites were perching 100-200 yards from me in the fields along the refuge wildlife drive. They were observed with a 7X42 binoculars and a 20X spotting scope. One of the birds was photographed extensively with a 500 mm lens. Both birds appeared to be slightly larger than Mississippi Kites, had white heads, clear white tail feathers, red eyes, black shoulder patches, and yellow feet. All the Mississippi Kites have left the area. A Northern Harrier chased one of the kites repeatedly from its perch. The kites were in the same field initially, then one moved a half-mile away and hunted. Both birds were seen kiting in separate fields.
