ID previously as a Purple martin. Un macho con un grupo de Caribbean Martins.Negro,azulado-morado entero.Fotos. Hi Eduardo, Recently I have been in touch with Marshall Iliff about this photo of yours from the Dominican Republic: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/717311 He suspected it might be Cuban Martin (Progne cryptoleuca) based on the white feathering on the underparts. This has been confirmed by several experts from the Caribbean, and if the location is correct it represents a significant record! In fact, there are no reports currently in the eBird database of this species in the Dominican Republic. Because this media did not have a date associated with it in IBC, it was ingested into the Macaulay Library directly, rather than through eBird. I can change the identification there, if you agree. Also, we were wondering if you would be willing to create an eBird checklist for this sighting, assuming you are able to find the date and confirm the location. The metadata on the image shows March 3, 2010, if that is any help. Any additional images you might still have of it would be greatly appreciated as well, and would be excellent to upload to the checklist you create. If you need any help creating this checklist, please let me know and I would be happy to assist you. Cheers, Jay -- Jay McGowan Macaulay Library Cornell Lab of Ornithology jwm57@cornell.edu
