feathers found by Bev King near the turnoff for the tower, just minutes after Marshall found the primary, and sent to Marshall Iliff; uploaded here by Marshall; top right feather is a Great Horned breast feather, middle is clearly Barn Owl, and leftmost one maybe a Barn Owl breast feather
Detalles de la observación
*rare; first island record, although they occur on the nearby mainland. Presence established by a breast feather found by Bev King in the vicinity of a Barn Owl contour feather and another feather (unidentified, but maybe a Barn Owl breast feather with a dark teardrop spot near the tip). A week later MJI visited (10 June) and saw the Great Horned leaving the island at dawn (but no sign of Barn Owls). This strongly suggests that the Barn Owl (present for how long?) was depredated by the Great Horned, but gives no insight on how long the Barn has been present.
