Five individuals sighted walking near water on shore of beach. Small, light colored birds with white bellies and light brown backs; distinctive dark ring around neck. Both male and female specimens sighted (females noticeably more pale compared to adjacent males) Appeared to be feeding and ran skittered across the shore with quick, short steps. High "peep" calls could be heard. This particular beach is known locally for its piping plover population as it has extensive sand dunes.
