Note the steep forehead, stubby bill, and short neck. Also, dark breast and golden tones. Note smaller size relative to the CANGs.
Detalles de la observación
I picked this bird out of the crowd of geese that were in the fields north and east of the reservation. All these geese were relaxed and grazing almost non-stop. Smaller than the CANGs, although it did seem larger than "Mallard-sized". What drew my attention were its smaller overall size, shorter neck, apparently steep forehead, and apparently stubby bill. Its breast was darker than the CANGs, and the breast also seemed to have a golden tone to it. No apparent white "collar" on its neck. Viewed from ground level, not from the top of the drumlin.
