Detalles de la observación
(Rare and Unreported) Photos. Viewed from shore while enjoying the morning, a pair that came in quite close. Harassed by a frigatebird before moving back towards Cancun and out of sight. Elegant white tern-like birds with thick orange-yellow bills, black diagonals streaks on shoulders and black wingtips, wonderful long tail streamers. Vocalized a couple times like a harsh croak. Appears to be only three other Mexico eBird records of this species, ever! Two from further south in Quintana Roo and one from a pelagic offshore of Veracruz. I knew it was a cool sighting but didn't think it that uncommon. Speculating that Isla Mujeres is a good place to have a chance, but few people out here birding. Really fun sighting.
