Classic ventral view showing white underparts contrasting with brown breast and head. Note long, pointed wings.
Detalles de la observación
Came into boat several times. Pending review, this is likely to be a new bird species for Bermuda. Well photographed - quite possibly the only time this species has been photographed at the same time as Bermuda Petrel. Trindade Petrel is a familiar species to several aboard from trips off North Carolina and elsewhere in the Atlantic. This was a light morph. Brief description as follows: Relatively large and lanky pterodroma petrel with a distinctive combination of brown upperparts, white belly and lower breast and mainly white underwing coverts. Larger and slower flyer than Bermuda Petrel. Came in closer to the boat than BEPE. Notice that P10 is abraded and bleached compared to other primaries. Made multiple passes of the boat.
