An adult visiting a nest hole entrance (during more than two minutes) and finally flying off alarmed and calling (see.....comment below). This is an interesting case: this hole was succesfuly used the previous year by a pair of Tickell's Brown Hornbill (Anorrhinus tickelli), and we were told that they were using it again when we visited the parc. We took video during several hours, and two visits by this Oriental Pied Hornbill were all that was recorded. Only after the visit, our excelent and experienced guide Uthai Treesuccon, was informed that the brown hornbills had abandoned the nest a few days earlier. His interpretation of the present video is that the Pied Hornbill was inspecting the hole, as a possible nest site, and his alarmed behaviour and calls are due to the hole being used by another animal, very likely a Forest Monitor Lizard, which frequently roost on holes of this kind. Elevation: 251 m. Date added to IBC: June 23, 2016.
