Starts with the solo great call of a single pileated female, with its long trilled hoots at the end of the call; then the female of group TO1 gives hoots, sometimes disyllabic; and the TO1 female, who is rather lar-like, gives a great call which is answered by her pileatus-like mate. The 3rd great call is by the pileated female again. The bout continues with alternate songs and calls by the females. Sometimes the great calls are synchronized, along with the male, who starts his response in the middle of his mates call. The male has a hybrid-like call sounding like oo-ah oo-oh oo-oh oo-ah bubububububub. Habitat: Tropical Forest, Evergreen Forest.
