30th 6am. Spending 1.5hr on tree below top in early morning
Detalles de la observación
29th July Smallish Eagle (more Black Kite-than Steppe Eagle size) found when arriving home on top of neighbour's tree (5.45pm), but had reportedly been there already scanning neighbourhood (few chicken farms) for few hours. See pic. Spent night inside tree, just below top. 30th July morning (very misty) moves from inside tree to branch with better view, stays there for 1.5hr (pics) and at 7.25am flies to top of same tree (see flight pic) in wide circle. Still there scanning the neighbourhood, when I have to leave for office (8.15am) and reportedly has stayed part of the morning. Not found anymore when I come back 6pm from office. In spite of inclination towards Indian Spotted due to size and head shape, originally identified as Tawny Eagle, because of upper wing pattern, baggy trousers, behaviour, and extensive light rump. But review of presently (2023) available photos on eBird made me switch to Indian Spotted as yet, because few ISE also have such upper wing pattern and rump. I estimated through telescope that nostrils were like Tawny, but was uncertain afterwards (photos inconclusive). On eBird no Tawny was found to have such rounded buzzardy head, also not GSE. No photos of such light phase ISE found (some Greater Spotted have), but summer season and size, neck length and head shape best fit ISE rather than GSE. I am still open for discussion
