Detalles de la observación
Continuing bird. Didn't start calling until around 2130 and at first would only give one sequence every 5-10 minutes. Detected with Thermal Optic around 2135 and watched until 2300. Fed in marsh between 5-10m off the road, often crawling under as well as on top of reed clumps (looks more like a mouse than bird!). Made two small flights and during the second flight I put the flashlight on it and it turned and flew directly towards us and landed at our feet! Swam across an open patch of water and paused a few times. It then moved slightly further in (unable to see with flashlight any more) but still was detectable with the thermal. Watched for a while longer as it fed some more and then sat and preened for about 15 minutes. Afterwards it flew again this time flying directly north about 50 meters and landed back in the marsh. At this time it started calling almost continuously until we left shortly after 2300.
