Detalles de la observación
Continuing bird first reported earlier this afternoon by friend of homeowner. Distinctive bird, one I've seen out west before but first in 10+ years and first in Indiana. Small, mostly yellow bird with black wings, back, and tail and large 'tanager' bill. Spotty red on head indicates a male just coming into breeding colors. Superficially resembling a goldfinch at first except for the size of the bill and the red splotches on head. Photos attached. More photos available if needed. Seen feeding on grape jelly in oriole feeder on north side of house for approximately 3 minutes. Seen by others in other places in the neighborhood. Please consult Indiana Rare Bird Alert Facebook group for details about how to observe species.
