Detalles de la observación
Continuing bird at a private residence. The bird came in and landed in a small tree at 8:52am and just sat there for several minutes before visiting the thistle feeder. Once on the feeder, the bird stayed there and casually fed for a full 15 minutes. Bird seen well at close range (about 25 feet) and in good light. From my notes: A small finch with a very sharp conical yellow bill. Smaller and more compact than a House Finch. Dark wings with two white wing bars. Red on front of crown. Rosy red on upper sides of breast. Red "cap" on top of head. Long streaks on lower flanks. Back of head finely streaked. Cold grayish brown cheek patch. Tail forked. Bird has the appearance of a minor split eye-ring. Red patch on lower throat. Area around bill is darker than the rest of the face, lores dark. Red is most prominent on the upper breast.
