Detalles de la observación
Previously thought to be Esmereldas Woodstar, which would have been rare. Few previous records of Esmerelas exist in the region, but our photos show a narrow white post-ocular stripe and greenish cheek stripe which is most consistent with this species. However, here are comments from Scott Olmstead indicating that it is Purple-throated. "Your report of Esmeraldas Woodstar from (0.5443,-79.1605) was recently discussed by the Ecuadorian records committee CERO. The consensus among the committee members is that your photos show an immature male Purple-throated Woodstar. The most important features that were mentioned in the identification are the shape of the long outer tail feathers (too thick for Esmeraldas) and the color of the flanks and belly (should be more clean white on Esmeraldas)."
