Black Swift nest habitat along sea cliffs in Big Sur
Detalles de la observación
Shortly after dawn Black Swifts started to appear in the distance offshore. Every ten minutes or so, several pairs or groups of three would chase each other in close to the cliffs and low over the water. At one point I saw a bird disappear briefly twice into the upper part of the arched cliff shown in the photo. I'm not sure if it was carrying food. These visits were only a few seconds, and then the bird was back in the air. I couldn't see any nest from my vantage. I made some recordings over the heavy surf of the twittering calls that the pairs would make during these chases.
