NOTES: Songs and calls recorded in two parts, the first natural ending at 9:34 and the second after playback ending soon thereafter (time not noted). For first part, bird was 15-20 m away and 2 m up in relatively dense undergrowth near fork in loop trail. Apparently a different bird than recorded earlier in cut #98RDAT01-03. In response to playback, this bird, a male, made several passes by before landing in the open at eye level where it was well seen. Second part after playback, with bird now 12 m away and about 3 m up on relatively exposed perch. Immediately after playback bird sang and approached, then it began calling (when I got onto it), followed by more complex song, and eventually more normal song. Some calls in second part overloaded. Copied with HPF@200 Hz. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
