Field Guides Trip Report " fantastic encounter with this extremely rare bird . we had as many as 4 between those seen and heard .their numbers are down to probably less than 100 birds , and nearly all are found within one kilometer .habitat appears a limiting factor for this bird that has probably never been common . they require tall mangroves , set away from the beach , so that high tides don't sweep away leaf litter , which they frequently feed in ."
