Calls from a pair of older chicks at a nest in an old barn, calling in alarm at our presence. While calling they were on the ground and backed into the stall where their nest was, but they were not spreading their wings or performing any sort of threat display. The knocking sounds at 1:32 are as one of them jumped on something on the floor of the stall. The barn was very dark, and it was difficult to see many details on the birds; in a flashlight we were able to see that they were mostly feathered on the upperparts but downy on the underparts, and at least 3/4 the size of an adult.
Beobachtungsdetails
Two older chicks at a nest in an old barn. Not sure of their exact age, but they were at least 3/4 the size of a full-grown adult, and mostly feathered on the upperparts and wings, with fairly downy underparts. Recorded.
