Saw large black bird flying in distance while taking photos at haystack, initially thought it was a raven but its shape was off, got camera immediately for pics, heard it calling in the distance as well, forgot what it sounded like but heard it, waited for its side profile and realized it was a raptor! soon a second one came in and I got some nice albeit distant views in flight. hovered there for a long time
