Beobachtungsdetails
Dos chotacabras. El primero se posó en un poste de cerca a unos 3 metros de mí durante unos 20 segundos. Su longitud total era de unos 25 cm. Tenía una cola corta (sin cola larga en tijera), presuntamente hembra. Buscó alimento en el camino durante los siguientes 5 minutos. Es difícil distinguir los detalles con la luz tenue. Emitió un sonido suave, como un chit, chit, mientras buscaba alimento. Un segundo ejemplar, un poco más grande, llegó volando y voló alrededor del primero durante un par de segundos. Unos minutos después, vi a dos en el camino (con los ojos reflejándose en mi linterna), pero estaban demasiado lejos para ver los detalles. Foto original y otra con el brillo ajustado al 100%. English: Two nightjars. The first one perched on a fence post about 3 meters away from me for about 20 seconds. Its total length was about 25 cm. It had a short tail (no long, forked tail), presumably a female. It foraged along the path for the next 5 minutes. It's difficult to make out details in the dim light. It made a soft, chirping sound while foraging. A second, slightly larger bird flew in and circled the first one for a couple of seconds. A few minutes later, I saw two more along the path (their eyes reflected in my flashlight), but they were too far away to see details. Original photo and another with the brightness set to 100%. Notas de audio (Español/English): Durante la observación, una de las aves aterrizó en el camino de tierra detrás de mí y comenzó a vocalizar un suave "chit". Me tomó unos 10 segundos de torpeza encender mi grabadora de mano (H1n) y apuntar al ave. La vocalización fue bastante silenciosa a pesar de que el ave estaba a unos 2 metros de mí. En la ecografía, las notas de "chit" tienen una frecuencia de ~4 kHz y se pueden ver/oír a los 1.5 y 2 segundos, luego a los 4.5, 10, 10.5 y 11 segundos. Después, a los 20, 24.8, 28.4 y 29 segundos. Luego, el ave voló más lejos por el camino. Hay un intervalo de 3 segundos en la grabación donde casi se me cae la grabadora (¡estaba muy emocionado!). El ave saltaba unos 20-30 cm mientras emitía el sonido; el resto del tiempo permanecía en silencio. During the observation, one of the birds landed on the dirt road behind me and began vocalizing a quiet “chit” note. It took me about 10 seconds of fumbling to get my hand recorder (H1n) turned on and pointed at the bird. Vocalization was quite quiet despite the bird being about 2 meters from me. In sonogram, “Chit” notes are at ~4kHz and can be seen/heard at 1.5 & 2 seconds, then at 4.5, 10, 10.5, and 11 seconds. After the gap at 20, 24.8, 28.4, and 29 seconds. Then the bird flew further down the road. There is a 3 second gap in the recording where I nearly dropped the recorder (I was so excited ! ). Bird would jump into the air about 20-30 cm while making the sound, otherwise it was silent.
