Cont 2nd state record, survived sub-freezing night and emerged around 915am to 35+ mph gusts ravaging the point. Very cold and windy. Thank you to the birders who pulled me from my warming car when the bird appeared on the entrance road, feeding inches from the street at times to growing and great fanfare. Intricate, cryptic scaly patterning on back belied its reputation as a "plain" bird ...something more than subtly beautiful. May edit this with more details and better verbs once thawed out.
