Beobachtungsdetails
probable 1st cycle; larger than RBGUs in overall body, head and bill structure, but not as big as the obvious 1st cycle AHGUs; primaries seemed more chocolatey, but lighting wasn't ideal (backlighting an issue); primary tips did have small white terminations (not chevron-shaped, just very tips, which can be seen in AHGU); dark smudge around eye that I've seen in plenty of 1st cycle THGU; will review photos and possibly get second opinions; never saw the bird fly ***update after looking at some flight photos that are likely the gull: I did lose sight of this bird and *possibly* photographed it flying away to the nearby gravel pits; I wasn't looking while a small group of gulls got up including the gull of interest, two 1st cycle AHGU/ICGU's flew; one flew towards landfill, which seemed like a clear AHGU, so I decided to take photos of the other gull that looked more fitting for the bird of interest that had just disappeared; dorsal primaries seemed dark-ish, there was a fine secondary bar split from the outer primaries region by what looks like an inner primary window; see photos of partial tail/UTC spread; I'd probably lean Thayer's Iceland Gull
