Consecutive cuts of what seemed to be a family In bamboo at 2700m; 2 individuals seen had a very pale-white spot behind the eye; they sounded different from what we're used to for Peruvian Wren (especially from Carpish), and they were not very responsive to playback of birds from c. Peru though they did work their way closer. Based on specimen distribution (at the time) and the bit of white behind the eye, we ID them as Peruvian, but we’re aware that Sharpe's Wren has been reported from nearby. We are not comfortable saying the song is absolutely distinctive, but would be open to being convinced. Background includes: rooster, Spectacled Redstart, and White-throated Quail-Dove (in 2nd cut). Recorded using an Edirol R09 with a Sennheiser ME67 & foam windscreen.
