Beobachtungsdetails
Continuing; discovered (10/27/23) by Ashley H, and has been documented monthly, cumulatively by others. Thanks again, Ashley!! :)) Superficially like a YRWA with its namesake - a yellow rump, yellow crown patch, distinctive white tail spots with a black border. However, its underparts are almost all yellow, extending past its vent, bleeding onto its undertail coverts, which would suggest a hybridization with another warbler, possibly a Magnolia Warbler or a Prairie Warbler. ***more details to be added later*** 1117 to 1129 – Spotted walking along the grassy edge along the fence line that runs adjacent to State College Blvd approx. here (33.9092805, -117.8891135), near the culvert. Traveled with approximately 6-8 Yellow-rumped Warblers (YRWA), but when they were flushed into the trees, the Hybrid seemed to flush into its own tree for cover. Stayed mostly on the ground today vs the other 2 times I observed him. Foraged similarly to the nearby YRWA, even periodically popping up into the air like one. Lots of vocalizations from the YRWA, so I am uncertain if it vocalized; although I never saw it open its mouth. Continued to forage along the fence line until a pedestrian was being a pedestrian on the sidewalk, flushing the Hybrid further north until it flew away with the flock. I did not attempt to re-find. For anyone interested in checking this guy out, I would suggest to listen for/track the YRWA flocks around the NW corners of the Park, along State College Blvd. This guy stands out with his bright yellow underparts. Best of luck and enjoy!! :)) **selected "new world warbler sp" due to a possible re-evaluation of its ID, based on some questions on the combo of the parents **
