Beobachtungsdetails
Confirmed. Originally spotted on Sep. 19th by Lucas Brug. He had very brief look and thought Greenshank, but wrote it off as probably a Willet. The next day on the 20th I had a Tringa that had an up-curved bill and saw it in better light flying away from me and noticed a large white wedge that connected from tail up it’s back. Then today at 1225 I spotted the the Greenshank foraging with some GRYE’s. The bird was in the cove north of Teal Point at these coordinates (41.8402792, -124.1889844). Obvious large Tringa with aqua-green colored legs. Next to the yellowlegs the color difference was striking. Overall the Greenshank appeared heavier/stalkier and maybe just a bit taller than the yellowlegs. Bird was more pale underneath and up front of neck and into face. The neck was heavily streaked blending to back color. Back was a darker brown-green color with no small white flecking that I could see. Compared to the paler gray back color of the juvenile GRYE’s. Greenshank did some foraging then bathed briefly then all bird flew off. It was later seen that evening by two different parties at different location. Photos and video attached.
