Armchair lifer! I initially submitted: Really stumped by this bird as I can’t find any cuckoos with an entirely clean belly like this one. Field notes: tail all dark from above and mostly dark below but has some non-contrasting spots below and contrasting white at least on the sides Many thanks to reviewer Mittal Gala who emailed me the following on 6/6/23: The cuckoo that you have photographed is a juvenile of Pied Cuckoo (Jacobin Cuckoo). The host species is Jungle Babblers (in Rajasthan). If you wish, you could change this observation to Pied Cuckoo. :-)
