Mexican Brown Creeper
Beobachtungsdetails
I was intrigued by an extremely dark, almost charcoal colored Creeper that we found by the river. I've never seen a Creeper quite like this one. The "Mexican" Brown Creeper (which DNA testing suggests maybe represent a separate species) is the most distinctive Creeper subspecies, and differs from the others by: -dark overall, blackish-brown above narrowly streaked with white -rump dark chestnut -more extensive buffy below than other subspecies -underparts darker sooty gray (offset by whitish throat) -bill fairly short (shorter than Rocky Mountain birds) and may be more strongly curved -wings short and rounded Source: http://www.sibleyguides.com/2011/01/is-the-brown-creeper-more-than-one-species/
