Beobachtungsdetails
Juvenile bird in Pond #6. May be the same bird reported from private property north of this location a couple of weeks ago. The bird was clearly a stint - which stint was the question, my first thought that it was a Semipalmated Sandpiper - but it did not look right for that to me. My next thought was that it was a bit of an aberrant, Red-necked Stint, possibly the one reported from private property a few weeks ago - Unfortunately the photos were of such poor quality it was hard to divine any useful information from them - I then looked at bill shape, size and distal end of the bill to determine if it was likely to be either a Western or Semipalmated Sandpiper. At that point I sent a set of images to experts. The combination of a thin black bill, with no bulbous tip, and un-webbed feet, precluded other identifications and identified it as a Red-necked Stint Juvenile in extremely worn and sun-bleached plumage
