I was alerted to the presence of an American Avocet in the impoundment shortly after noon. The bird was actively feeding on the shoreline in the containment vessel near the north end, The large shorebird was in breeding plumage with orange head and neck, long upturned bill, black and white back and wings and long grayish blue feet (legs). A photo will be included in the report.
