Beobachtungsdetails
Yellow-billed Storks (Mycteria ibis) are widespread in sub-Saharan Africa. They are uncommon to locally common in Kruger National Park, and are frequently seen fishing or loafing along rivers and other wetlands. Yellow-billed Storks mainly eat fish, but also take frogs, worms, insects and large crustaceans. They wade with the bill partly immersed and held slightly agape, often stirring the sediment with one foot in an attempt to flush prey. As this adult demonstrates, they often shade the water with an outstretched wing on the same side as foot used for stirring the bottom mud.
