Beobachtungsdetails
When this bird was initially seen, I thought I had found the "missing" Dunlin, as the size and shape of the two birds are essentially the same. But, a quick look with the binocs revealed orangish feet and a bicoloured bill. The bird was then immediately photographed from a distance of about 15 feet for documentation. The Dunlin "like" bird is distinguished by the its feet colour, two toned bill with orangish at the base and dark on the decurved tip. The base of the bill also seems to be thicker than that of the Dunlin's bill. The sides of the bird were obviously streaked, and the bird also sports an eyering. If the bird was seen next to a Dunlin, it would appear darker. The possibility that the bird was a wayward Rock Sanpiper was eliminated by the feet colour and bill colouration. The Surfbird was eliminated by the bill length and size.
