Asian Crested Ibis (Toki) breeding dress. Found in a rice paddy quite close to the Tokino Breeding Centre, surprisingly wary and alert, reminded me of Major Mitchell's Cockatoo in flight as the wings are washed a delicate pale pink. Something like 380 birds are now on this island and the reintroduction appears very successful. I spent an afternoon and a couple of hours next day checking rice fields around Niibo and saw just 5 birds in all, but there was a lot of disturbance with rice planting etc going on. Elevation: 12 m.
