Beobachtungsdetails
Single bird, at the Koror Sewerage ponds. By itself initially but it moved in with long toed stints and wood sandpipers, allowing close comparisons. When it first took off I noticed a strong dark tail center – that seemed odd. I did not know at the time that this would align with white outer tail feathers. (bnote that on subsequent visits I was able to confirm that feature fully). Although it was near to sunset I was able to get reasonably good scope views. I could clearly see that the long toed stints all had streaked upper-breasts, whereas this bird had a grey breast with no patterning visible at all. It used a repeating feeding motion with its head low down, drilling, similar to what red-neck stints do at times, but the bird did not move while feeding as much as red-neck stints do. I did not hear it call.
