NOTES: One bird was well seen but a second was present; when recorded, bird was 18-20 m away and 4-5 m up; it was generally foraging in the 3-5 m range though it was somewhat lower before I recorded it; the bird seen well had a band on right leg and an orange coronal-spot suggesting it was a male; recorded in undergrowth of good, terra firme forest along trail B-3B on N side of igarap¿ (ca. 1.3 km. south of logging road, and 2 1/2 W of highway); no apparent response to playback; partly cloudy, intermittent trace breeze, 88-89¡ F; second part not copied. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Response to playback: No response. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
