***Very rare and unseasonal, continuing find by Brad Waggoner. Lifer! Great views on beach at low tide with gull flock north of lighthouse. Viewed from 7:52 AM until 9:11 AM, when it and one other gull left the flock to land in a distant bait ball. Similar to California Gull, but much darker mantle, yellower bill and legs, often a bit more upright stance. Bill was a bit thicker and decurved, giving the bird a slightly more aggressive facial expression. Pale yellow iris clearly visible. White rump provided contrast to the dark mantle in flight. Spent much of time preening.
