Beobachtungsdetails
When the 1st Summer Arctic Tern flew off, I kept an eye out on the cycling Terns that moved on and off the beach. This included checking birds that were flying and feeding on the Oceanside. It was during a scan of the Ocean that I noticed a Tern that stuck out with its pale gray back, white underparts, and black crown. The slim black bill immediately began to get me excited thinking of a Sandwich Tern and so I got the scope on it confirming the yellow tip on the bill. I tried to phonescope it which was a mistake because I ended not getting any photos and lost sight of the bird. About 40 mins or so after I had first seen the Sandwich Tern I spotted what I knew to be the bird way down the beach at the head of a small flock of about 37 COTEs. I worked my way in to reasonable distance for phonescoping and got sufficient documentation. Link to tweet with photo will be embedded into this report or photos will be added. *VERY RARE for Queens* https://twitter.com/birdingdude/status/1006990252903460864?s=21
