67-At 08:40, all in the Maple tree waiting for the feeders to be filled and the table set for breakfast. :) At 08:49 an influx of 106 goldfinches on the deck floor on all 7 baskets, the large tube feeder, on the ground under the lg tube feeder and under the Lilac bush. Guess the word got out about breakfast being served. :) Now, at 9:41am, we have 127 AMGOs, on the deck railing, in Maple tree above, on deck floor, on long thistle feeder, under the trio of feeders, on multiple tube feeders, in & below Lilac bush, and in the tall Maple tree at the back of our backyard! Whew! Still not a record, it would have to be a count above 300 to beat our record, here! 1-Female/Immature, possibly a hybrid, sitting at lg mixed tube feeder, eating on eastside, at 10:31am, after all the others were startled & took off, she stayed and kept eating. As we watched her, we noticed that she had a medium-dark eyeline, starting at her beak & extending a ways behind her eye, and it appears that she has a whitish supercilium above both eyes, too, and maybe a thick neck, but the rest of her body is very much a Goldfinch in size & color, but not sure if it has one or two wingbars, as it was hard for hubby to get that angle, while she was on the feeder, but she has a goldfinches' tail...and she's quite interesting! Note: Many of our visiting AMGOs are just now starting to get a little more yellow around their necks and a couple of the males are just now starting to get their blackish caps showing a little...wondering if the Winter Solstice marks a change of feathers for them??
