Podrobnosti k pozorování
Continuing adult drake that I had found on Monday from the apartments at the end of Seneca Ave. but much closer and in better light. Long full crest obvious and unmistakable. Comical to see blowing in the wind at times. Bill with wide black tip - much wider than on any other Aythya around, not confined only to the nail. Head breast and back absolute jet black with crisp clean delineation with the dazzling snow white flanks. Head blocky when bird was on alert with flat crown becoming super noticeable at times. Noticeably smaller than all the other Aythya ducks - most certainly dwarfed by the much larger Greater Scaup and slightly smaller than the Lesser's. Whole flock was actively feeding most of the time that I viewed them and I observed the TUDU surface with vegetation matter in its bill a few times. Never associated with the hybrid TUDU x RNDU I found along the water's edge. video here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/75557613@N08/24886837634/
