Two adults in channel on south side of Ave C just east of the Yellow Box Willows; a juvenile with another bird (age?) in the channel along the east side of Duckbill; and one juvenile about 100 m east of the gazebo in the intake area just north of Ave C. Given the difficulty I had finding this species at Piute before November, I have to wonder if there might be an influx of wintering birds; alternatively (or in addition) it's possible that the controlled burns and clearance of reeds from channels along Ave C and east Duckbill have made these normally elusive birds more detectable. Photos show three of the birds.
