Podrobnosti k pozorování
Per homeowner has been here since late September. Male. They first detected it by the loud electric buzzy wing sound. I was invited to come view the bird and we waited 20-30 minutes before we heard the wing noise approach, and then a minute later he flew in to the feeder. Fed for a bit before flying up and perching in an oak where he hung out until we left him sitting up there preening and stretching and just hanging out. Very good extended looks at this male, about same size as archilochus but seemed bulkier, and obviously longer tail projecting past primaries. Could see the pointed outer primaries which make the buzzy wing noise. Also noted fully pink-red gorget without any orange tint or black chin like RTHU, some rufous edgings to edge of bases of tail feathers, green back, dusky gray below. White post oc spot. County bird for me!
