**Rare and late; continuing presence in the NY bight in recent weeks with reports from sandy hook up to Rockaway and west to Gravesend Bay/Hoffman and Swinburne islands, which have long been favored by this species. This is my third or fourth attempt to see them from Calvert Vaux. Saw two adults, then three adults, then six pelicans altogether in a single scan, some of which were too distant to age. Distant photos
